Soccer Mom Season is Here

Nike x Spread the Jelly

It was a balmy New York City summer day—on the cusp of the World Cup, which kicks off June 11th—when Nike and Spread the Jelly gathered at Nike Headquarters to celebrate and redefine the “soccer mom.” At times an afterthought, but a crucial part of football culture and childhood writ large, the soccer mom is the person behind-the-scenes making everything happen. From cheering on the sidelines and countless card rides, to early morning practices and light-night games, she is there every step of the way.

We embarked on a “Soccer Mom Walk + Talk,” led by Nike Global Trainer Betina Gozo Shimonek (pregnant with, that’s right, her fourth baby) and STJ co-founders, Amrit Tietz and Lauren Levinger. The first order of business was hydration (fresh watermelon juice and iced matcha), a pep talk, and then a much-needed stretch session. Then we strolled from HQ to an activation of—what else?—a tricked out old mini-van filled with soccer balls and covered in bumper stickers that read “Honk If You’re Late to Practice” and “Soccer Moms Know Best.”

Joining us was yoga superstar, Sky Ting co-founder and Nike trainer, Krissy Jones (due soon with her first); designer Martine Ali; and fashion writer and personality Liana Satenstein. We dressed everyone in the sweetest vintage Nike finds, sourced by Rummage Stretch. (Liana’s coral, lace-up Nike pedal pushers were a big favorite.)

Upon gathering at the van, we were served cheeky and apropos snacks: sandwiches in baggies, pert clementines, and gummy candy. The mood was joyous—even giddy—as we all reflected on our motherhood journeys and the support of our own families, whether it was on the pitch or elsewhere, that got us where we are today. Most of all, it was a rare day where instead of taking care of everyone, we all got taken care of ourselves.

Back at Nike HQ, there was more food—fresh salads, homemade pretzels, mini grilled cheese’s—and a customization station where you could swag out jerseys and shorts. We wanted to show that the soccer mom could be that rock for everyone, while maintaining her individuality, personality, and even sexuality. And no one, perhaps, embodies this more than Nike’s newest soccer mom (!!!), Kim Kardashian who features prominently in the latest Nike film, “Rip the Script.”

Indeed, the last portion of the day was a screening of “Rip the Script,” which other than Kim stars Ronaldo, LeBron James, and Channing Tatum amongst other world-class athletes and celebrities. We can attest: It was nail-biting and dynamic for sports-fans and non-fans alike. The film is Nike’s rallying cry for players everywhere to ditch the playbook and embrace fearless football, with overlapping storylines, unexpected casting, and a melange of content that allows viewers to approach football on their own terms.

We loved how Kim is not an OG football fan and makes no claim to be, she’s there because of her son Saint. Nike specifically cast her as a mirror for everyone learning about the game in real time for whatever the reason, with curiosity. The message rang loudly that football culture is about community with Kim representing new audiences—moms, fashion icons, anyone really. We’re all welcome to participate in football fandom. (And truly with the World Cup so near, why wouldn’t we want to!)

Spread the Jelly was honored to join Nike in presenting a more 2026 self-defined expression of motherhood, sports, and personal style: unique, fluid, and unapologetic. We can only hope the next generation of athletes will grow stronger because they’ve always had someone strong to look up to, cheering them on since the beginning.

Now pass us an orange slice.
