This monthly column is Spread the Jelly’s ode to frivolity and the fun of paying attention to what we want.
False spring in New York feels particularly cruel after a long and grueling winter—we’re still pretty bitter with the groundhog. But spring break is also here, and for those of us traveling or not, we can confirm one absolute fact: no one is scrolling through winter coats right now (unless the sale is, like, extremely good). Instead, we’re ogling the spring and summer pieces that are so close to being worn every single day we can practically taste it. This has been made worse by the incredible swimwear recommendations in our Substack chat. For this edition of Sunday Shopping, we’ve mixed in a bit of everything, but what’s on our mind most of all? Anything that signals warm weather is around the corner.

The platonic ideal of a Breton. French Riviera energy without having to leave your apartment (though of course our preference would be, like, the actual French Riviera).

Listen, listen, listen. We haven’t been this glued to a book in a very long time. An STJ book club is coming soon and this is the one you’ll want to add to your nightstand. JUICY.

Summer-on-the-Mediterranean mentality. We asked the Substack chat for swimsuit recommendations and this one came up repeatedly. The colors are gorgeous and the cut is amazing.

The resort wear of necklaces (and currently on sale, so it’s a win-win all around).

Screen-free storytelling for kids which means: screen-free peace for parents. Ideal for long car rides. Basically a little mini radio.

We <3 Ceremonia. This is excellent for beach hair, smells delicious, and doesn’t weigh hair down, which is a big plus. TLDR: a vacation in a bottle.

Two coats in one (gingham on one side and brown on the other). Polished and perfect for transitional weather. Currently 40% off!

Wearing an anklet is a permanent solution for feeling like you’re on the beach in the middle of false spring. Also from Eliou: sardine earrings that we also considered adding to this post.

The flip-flop equivalent of a good white tee. Available in a ton of colors.

A wide-brim hat that’s easy to fold and stuff into a too-small carry-on. Also cute: they have a matching one for littles.

Celisse is a mom-made nail brand that we love. We’re attempting to go bare nail lately (mostly because we don’t have time for manis), and this Nourishing Nail treatment and Nourishing Cuticle Serum are step one toward making that a possibility.

Hello, seaside dinner. Soft dusty-mauve stripes and an easy silhouette. An Australian brand we adore.

The vibe: chic grandmother who lives in a small town in Italy but lived in Rome for most of her professional career and ran a marketing firm.

Everyone loves their midi dresses, but Ciao Lucia’s other styles are just as effortless, cc: this linen dress.

Part of a series by Belmond and Apartamento Magazine, this features 23 Malaysian recipes from chefs including André Chiang alongside essays and photography that lets you travel through Penang.

If a library were turned into a scent. Notes of plum and cinnamon, leather, patchouli, and vanilla.

Made from 100% mulberry silk with hand-rolled, hand-stitched edges. Tie it in your hair and pretend you’re on the beach, keeping the wind from turning it into a tangled mess.

A Janie & Jack find that we wish came in adult sizes quite frankly but we'll settle for this. Currently 50% off.

Sezane Home is our greatest hack (okay, not a hack, but just an FYI that they have amazing home things too). This velvet pillow is muah.

The most beautiful zebra leather. Fits everything and can be worn winter, spring, summer, and fall.

New favorite SPF loading. Dries quickly, layers well under makeup, and HYDRATING.

A breezy stroll on the boardwalk is made tangible when you wear this sweater.... and NO, it’s not just good marketing, this sweater is quite worth the hype.

In our quest for finding a good spring break travel suit, this swim dress is perhaps the best thing our Editorial Director has purchased in a very long time. If you’re going to be running after your kid at the pool or something… this is excellent and fits well.

Okay, one more kid thing, sorry, but this little Easter basket bag is perhaps the most adorable thing we’ve seen in an extremely long time.

This. Is. So. Good. Our preference is clear + mint, but we’ve heard good things about the sheer pink tint too.
